Congratulations to Shane Surrency -- he is the Teen Angler of the Year!!! As I stated in my last e-mail -- this has been a year of first for Teen Anglers and today was no different. This is the first time we have had the same Teen as Teen Angler of the Year for two years back to back!!
Shane and his dad Steve and Dylan Sholander and Capt.Joe Ward left the dock at 6:30am on the hunt for fish that were on the list. I had put black drum, flounder, mangrove snapper, pompano, redfish, sheepshead, tripletail and trout on the list. The point value for each fish was not reveled until they returned to the dock.
Dylan Sholander had a very nice -- 3lb. 11oz. redfish worth 25 points and Shane had 2 nice sheepshead worth 15 points each and a mangrove snapper that was 15 points. With a total of 45 points Shane beat out Dylan for the Teen Angler of the Year.
Shane and Dylan both reported it was tough fishing and were happy to have caught what they did. Both were using live shrimp for bait. Shane and his dad fished to the north in the river and Dylan and Capt. Joe fished to the south.
Thank you to the Teen's and their families that come out for the weigh in and showed your support to the Teen's competing.
Once again -- great job and we will see you all in August!
